If the takeoff/go-around switch on either control wheel is pressed while on the ground, the speed command system will shift into the alpha mode for takeoff. The speed command system will then cause the flight director bars to be referenced to a minimum of 1.25Vs or 17.5ยบ maximum pitch attitude, whichever produces the higher airspeed. The FAST/SLOW pointers are referenced the the same mode.

L-1011 Autoflight: Takeoff Mode (22-53)
