The ATS switch on the thrust panel is used to engaged the throttles to the auto throttle system. In the ON position, the auto throttle system is engaged to hold the selected airspeed, if that speed is above 1.3Vs. The auto throttles will automatically disengaged when the go-around switch is pressed or when the airplane touches down. The auto throttles will also disengage if a malfunction occurs in the speed command system.
