L-1011 Autoflight: Takeoff Mode (22-43)

The TAKEOFF mode provides pitch and roll guidance. Roll guidance is wings-level only, with no heading reference. Pitch guidance commands a pitch attitude that will produce an angle of attack that corresponds to an airspeed of 1.25Vs for the existing flap setting, up to the established takeoff pitch attitude limit. Excess thrust that would otherwise cause this limit to be exceeded is converted into airspeed acceleration.

Remember, takeoff can be selected at any time while on the ground. Verification of mode engagement is made by observing the TAKEOFF message on both AFCS MODES annunciators.
