The Compass Control Panels are located on the overhead panel of the Lockheed L-1011. There is a compass control panel for the captain and one for the first officers' instruments. The compass controller has the following elements:
HEADING SET CONTROL SWITCH ... used to slew the compass cards in the MAG or DG modes. First index left of right is for slow alignment. Full over left or right is for fast alignment of sync indicator.

ALIGNMENT SYNC INDICATOR .. Indicates sync condition of gyro and flux valve when operating in the MAG mode.
MAG/DG SWITCH ... When MAG is illuminated the heading system is being supplied magnetic data. DG is illuminated to indicate that heading system is operating as a gyro compass with no magnetic corrections.
