L-1011 Flight Controls: Speed Brakes - Flaps Up (27-37)

A rear view of the airplane shows spoilers L&R1 and L&R2 & 3 in their travel limited position with the corresponding Surface Position Indicator (SPI) indices. The inside right travel for number 2 & 3 spoilers is 30º while spoilers 4, 5 and 6 are up the full 60º speed brake travel. Also, number 1 spoilers L & R have no indication of the 20º up on the instrument in the image.

The B & D labeled indications on the SPI represent hydraulic systems powering the limiter actuators.

Avionics Bending: Surface Position Indicator - Pinout

The L-1011 instrument pinout for today is for the Surface Position Indicator. It is actually quite interesting to see how different the various surface position indicators are and how much they needed to be customized to the specific aircraft. The one for the L-1011 includes all the scales for DLC since the L-1011 was the only aircraft using DLC as pitch control during approach.

The Surface Position Indicator is actually a relatively simply pointer instrument that can be driven with very low voltages. See the schematic for the Surface Position Indicator below:

Here is the pinout for the instrument:
