The reverser system if for ground use only and is used to slow the aircraft. The revers are operated by a separate set of levers forward of the thrust levers:
- Forward thrust levers at idle
- Lift reverse thrust lever to reverse idle detent
- Autothrottle clutch and cable system moved in direction for reverse thrust operation
- Select flight idle RPM
- Energize dual selector valve reverse thrust solenoid
- Power control mechanism actuates mechanical input to dual selector valve
- Translating cowl moves to deployed postion
- Further movement of reverse thrust lever increases rpm through cables and tele flex cable
- Grund idle circuit energized
- Dual selector valve solenoid de-energized
- Mechanical input returned to forward thrust selection
- Translating cowl moves to stowed postion
- Increased forward thrust is again available

I the beginning the RB211-22B engines were also able to reverse the hotstream in a very similar way the B737-200 does (and in addition to the coldtream reverse translating cowls).
ReplyDeleteNice to see the blog active again!
Thank You for your post! You are absolutely right about the hot stream reversers ... very neat concept. Glad to see that you are still following along with my bog. I got busy at work for a while and had to take a few months off from blogging ... i am sure you know hot that goes.
