The Integrated Drive Generator (IDG) is a generator and constant speed drive (CSD) combined and is considered as one integral until. For example, the IDG is change by maintenance personal as one unit and not as different component pieces.The IDG is mounted on the accessory section of the N3 stage.
Cooling of the generator is accomplished by using the CSD oil which is sprayed through the generator and then returned to an air/oil cooler. Constant lubrication of the IDG is critical to its correct function.
