When vertical speed is selected by pressing the "VS" switch, the VS light will illuminate indicating mode selection. Remember, verification of mode selection con only be made by checking for the VS message displayed in both AFCS MODES annunciators. The vertical speed thumb-wheel is now active and is adjusted to a new vertical speed of 800 feet of climb per minute. The aircraft will automatically pitch over and maintain a vertical speed of 800 feet per minute.
