The Engine Start panel is one of the center elements of the Lockheed L-1011 overhead panel. It is located in the center row towards the front of the panel. Depending on the type of Lockheed L-1011 there is an ignition source selector which I do not have on my Engine Start panel (it would be nice to have). The switches on the panel are
- Continuous Ignition
- GND Start Release (Ground Start Release)
- Gound Start/Engine Valve Open for ENG1, 2 and ENG3
- Flight Start for ENG1, 2 and 3
The engine ground start switches have magnetic hold latches that will keep the switch depressed until the engine spools up to specific %RPM. The magnetic hold latches can be overridden with the GND Start Release switch.
